ISTD
As a school we follow the Imperial Society for Teachers of Dance. This sylibi is highly recognised, and is taught in many of the top dance colleges in the westend and throughout the UK including Italia Conti, Laine Theatre Arts, Performers College and many many others. More recently the ISTD have been recognised by QCA.
We study Imperial Ballet, Modern Theatre and Tap Dance.
Students can take ISTD examinations in any of the above genre from the age of 5 and are encouraged too, although it is not forced upon students to take them. Whether or not students decide to take the exam they follow the work in weekly classes.
It gives students a solid dance technique which is built upon as they progress through the grades. Anyone entering the Performing Arts, whether it be as a dancer, actor or singer a minimum amount of dance ability is required.
We believe that the ISTD have an excellent combination of good, strong basic technique whilst keeping the work up to date with todays changes in dance styles allowing students to achieve their full potential whilst enjoying what they are learning.
